Azetlor the Collector of Pro Mode Controller Smashing

Having trouble with this fight? I can help. I've beaten Ghostbusters for PS3 on Casual mode, and now I'm going for the Are You a God? achievement trophy by completing it on Professional Mode. I've been stuck on Azetlor the Collector at the end of the Library level for days! But I know how to beat him, and I finally finished this difficult Pro Mode check point today. The Collector is one enemy that I know inside and out.

I've contributed my battle notes and strategies to the MyCheats guide for Ghostbusters. If you read them, let me know if my tips were helpful or if you have better advice! Here's the part of the guide about the Collector with my contributions. The first 1.5 paragraphs are not my writing but the rest of them are:

After reuniting with your partners, you’ll fight Azetlor The Collector. For the first stage you’ll need to use the Slime Blower and shoot at his face to remove the black slime that’s protecting him. Once you’ve shot enough slime his mask will glow yellow; use the Capture Beam to wrangle it off, using some slams to pull at it.

Once the mask is off, Azetlor will spin more quickly around the room, send book bats at you, send purple shock waves from a distance, and smash the ground when he is near you. Shoot at his glowing green eye with the Blast Stream and Boson Darts until he’s done. You can grab book bats with your capture stream to slam him with, but aiming may be kinda awkward and really your best best is to just use the Proton stream. You can use the Stasis Beam to slow Azetlor down if you’re having a hard time hitting him. Keeping your partners alive can be helpful here as they make good distractions for Azeltor’s brutal smash attack. You can use the portals around the stage to move quickly, but it isn’t very useful on Casual mode.

While not a very difficult fight on Casual, this may be the hardest and most frustrating battle in the whole game on Professional mode. The portals become important at this level of difficulty so you can get from one side of the room to another when Azetlor has you cornered. Use the corner portals to keep as much distance as possible between you and The Collector. Running in wide circles around Azetlor seems to help you dodge as well. Be sure you know where both Ray and Egon are and where Azetlor is on the map at all times. Don't revive Ray/Egon unless it is completely safe to do so. Keeping a safe distance from Azetlor and anticipating his attacks is more important than the other Ghostbusters.

Try to be in a formation where Ray and Egon are roughly where they were when you ripped off the mask, and you are farther away at the other end of the map with your back to one of the corner portals. Then you can keep a pattern going of doing two or three hits of damage to Azetlor, get him to chase you to the corner portal, go through the portal when he is close, tag any downed Ghostbusters within reach, and get back to your starting position to do more damage. If the pattern is not staying a pattern, change which portals you are using.

Also know that you get two knockdowns before you have to be helped up, and after the first one Azetlor will generally pick another target as long as the other Ghostbusters are up. You can usually get one more hit in, but don't let him knock you down a second time unless you are right next to Ray or Egon. You can't count on them to make it across the map to help you. You usually do not want to be right next to another Ghostbuster anyway, since if two of you get knocked down at the same time the game is probably over. Your teammates' AI is not to be trusted. They will sometimes get caught by debris (most of which is indestructible), and other times they will run across the map to heal the other Ghostbuster instead of you. Ray seems especially stupid.

One situation to try to avoid is Azetlor knocking out the other Ghostbusters in the exact middle of the map. In that event, you don't have time to get to them unless Azetlor is right next to a corner portal, and even then you barely have enough time at full sprint. Another very bad situation is that sometimes they get knocked through a portal, which corpses cannot travel through, so Ray or Egon will be behind one of the portals. Be careful, since while you are helping them up Azetlor can smash the portal and then you'll both be trapped. If you are the only man standing, your best best is to travel diagonally through the corner portals just when The Collector has nearly reached you, and try to get the maximum distance between him and you until you can see where Ray/Egon are and judge whether you have time to reach them.

Don't fear Azetlor the Collector. You'll know you're winning when tag team busting makes you feel good!
